1. EPF General Assembly 2011.

The EPF General Assembly will take place in Pilsen, Czech Republic on Monday 2 May 2011, starting at 18:00.

Election of EC members and chairmen of the committees will take place.

Please prepare to confirm your bids for organising European championships and cups in 2012 and 2013 and new bids for 2014.

The Agenda for the meeting was distributed at the beginning of April and can be loaded down from the EPF web.

Please bring the Agenda with you to the meeting.

Welcome to the General Assembly!

2. Oleksandr Kopaev is new EPF Computer Secretary.

EPF and IPF have in co operation engaged Oleksandr Kopaev from Ukraine as full time Computer Secretary.

This means he will take part at all European championships and take care of the computer work including the result service.

He will also work out new programs for Nominations, Record keeping and Lifters profile.
EPF will now be able to present all results from European championships in a uniform and detailed format.

Kopaev will also arrange for internet streaming if the organizers are able to provide a high quality internet line.

This arrangement will be a big benefit for all organizers of European championships because they do not need to arrange for a local computer secretary with the comprehensive knowledge needed.

3. Updates of the EPF By Laws.

Some small updates of the EPF By Laws were made 4 February due to decisions made at the IPF General Assembly in November last year. The updates specify that European records will only be accepted from international competitions.

The updates are made in the following chapters: 104.1, 104.10.2 and 104.11

5. Danube Cup in Gorna, Oryahovica, Bulgaria.
This was a very good organized cup. Lifters from Bulgaria, Ukraine Slovakia, Serbia and Romania took part and the best lifters were Marina Stela and Hristov Ivaylo from Bulgaria.

6. Greetings from the President.

The EPF General Assembly takes place 2 May in Pilsen and this year election of EPF officials is on the agenda.

Not many new candidates are brought forward by the member federations but fortunately all present officials stand for re election. Among these are Myriam Busselot the only female candidate and it is important for EPF to have female representation in the board because this is a requirement for all IOC member federations.

The lack of new candidates may mean that the federations are pleased by the way the present officials run the EPF. It can also mean, that not many new persons are interested to work a numerous amount of hours, without any payment to bring powerlifting forward.

I prefer to think that the member federations are rather pleased by the work of the EPF officials and feel that the co operation between EPF officials and the federations is satisfactory.

To make a short summary of the last 4 years, the EPF board and committee members have worked in a democratic and co operative way. They have all the time informed “open minded” about the work and activity and have built up a culture for none “hidden agendas”.

This has created good confidence among the officials and hopefully also between the officials and the representatives for our member federations.

The goal for any leadership of the EPF should be to work in a democratic way to create trust. Only by mutual confidence and frankness, all officials may do a good job and be able to use all their energy for the sport.

I look forward to welcome all member nations to the General Assembly.
